WHO CAN RENT?
At Blue Star, basically everyone has counter credit which means they can conduct business until proven otherwise. At this point you would become a cash customer. A cash customer can rent most any equipment offered by Blue Star including large pieces such as backhoes. All you need is a valid driver’s license (legal age) and one of the following in order to secure the deposit requirements:
A valid credit card / debit card
A valid checking account at local bank
Cash
If a credit / debit card is supplied, then an authorization will be run on to your account in sufficient size to secure BSR’s interest (this is usually at least twice the requested rental charges). When the equipment is returned and at the time of closeout, the customer has the option to leave the actual charges on the credit card, pay cash or by check. BSR has no control over any funds placed on hold by the customer’s bank which is usually released in a short while depending upon their bank’s policies.
If renting using a check, then by state law we must receive two checks (one written in the amount of the requested rental charges and another for the deposit amount which would vary but usually equal to at least one weeks rental or twice the requested rental charges, whichever is higher).
If using cash, then the customer will be required to provide additional identification plus a deposit equal to no less than one month’s rental of the requested equipment.
For certain pieces like backhoes, the customer can expect to provide a higher deposit of at least $1,500.
CREDIT ACCOUNTS:
Many customers find it more convenient to open an account. This is very simple and can be accomplished by visiting any store for an application. The payment terms of the account are 30 days net 10th prox. With a monthly finance charge of 1.5% on any outstanding balances (min. FC is $5). Blue Star also offers installment plans for customers wanting to purchase used equipment out of our existing fleet.
